These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Renota, including our website, macOS app, AI features, beta programs, and paid subscriptions.
By using Renota, you agree to these Terms.
1. What Renota Does
Renota is a local-first macOS notes and meeting assistant. It helps you record, capture keywords, generate structured notes, and use AI to revise or extend meeting content.
Renota is provided for productivity purposes only. It is not legal, medical, financial, or professional advice.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to use Renota. If you use Renota on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organization.
3. Your Content
You keep ownership of your notes, recordings, transcripts, prompts, and other content you create or provide.
You grant Renota a limited permission to process your content only as needed to provide the product, including local app functions, AI features you choose to use, support, security, and service improvement.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to record meetings, upload content, or process third-party information through Renota.
4. Recording Consent
Laws about recording conversations vary by location. You are responsible for obtaining any required consent before recording meetings or conversations.
Renota does not decide whether a recording is lawful in your situation.
5. AI Features
AI-generated output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your specific use case. You are responsible for reviewing and editing AI-generated notes before relying on them.
Do not use Renota to process content that you are not allowed to share with AI service providers.
6. Local Data and Cloud Services
Renota is designed to store original recordings and local notes on your Mac by default.
Some features require cloud services, such as login, subscription checks, seed user applications, payment, AI generation, support, or analytics. These features may transmit limited information as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Subscriptions, Trials, and Billing
Renota may offer free trials, beta access, paid plans, subscriptions, or supporter plans.
If you purchase a subscription, you authorize our payment provider to charge you according to the pricing and billing terms shown at checkout. Subscription terms, renewal timing, cancellation method, and refund terms will be disclosed before purchase.
You may cancel your subscription according to the instructions provided at checkout or in the product. Canceling a subscription may stop access to paid cloud or AI features, but it will not automatically delete local files stored on your Mac.
8. Refunds
Refunds are handled according to the refund policy shown at checkout or required by applicable law. If no separate refund policy is shown, purchases are generally non-refundable except where required by law.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use Renota for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes;
- violate others' privacy, recording rights, or intellectual property rights;
- reverse engineer, copy, resell, or misuse the product except as allowed by law;
- interfere with the security or operation of Renota;
- submit malicious code, spam, or abusive content.
10. Renota Intellectual Property
Renota, including its software, design, branding, website, and documentation, belongs to [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] or its licensors.
These Terms do not give you ownership of Renota's software or brand.
11. Beta Features
Some features may be experimental, incomplete, or changed without notice. Beta features are provided for testing and feedback and may contain errors.
12. Disclaimers
Renota is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability, and non-infringement.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Renota and [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.
Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of:
- the amount you paid to Renota in the 12 months before the claim; or
- USD $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these limits may not apply to you.
14. Termination
You may stop using Renota at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create legal risk, or misuse the product.
Termination does not automatically delete local content stored on your Mac.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice. Continued use of Renota after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE/COUNTRY], without regard to conflict of law rules.
